Clinics & Services


NHS Health Checks

The NHS Health Check is for adults in England between the ages of 40 and 74. It will give you and your GP a clearer picture of your health, and help you take action to reduce your risk of heart disease, stroke, type 2 diabetes and kidney disease.


Cervical Smear Clinic

All women aged between 25 and 64 are invited for cervical screening. Women aged between 25 and 49 are invited for testing every three years, and women older than this are invited every five years.


Family Planning & Emergency Contraception Clinic

Family planning clinics offer free, confidential advice, and information about contraception and sexual health.


Ante Natal Clinic

Our Midwife runs an ante natal clinic every Thursday between 9.20am – 1pm. They will check that you and your baby are well, give you useful information to help you have a healthy pregnancy (including healthy eating and exercise advice) and answer any questions you may have. You will also be offered antenatal classes.


Health Visitor

The health visiting service is about providing information and support for all new parents. Health visitors will offer a universal service to families, with more targeted and tailored support for those who need it .  They can be contacted via IlkestonCommunityHospital on 0115 9305522.


Stop Smoking Clinic

If you feel that you could benefit from support and advice to help you stop smoking then you can attend the stop smoking clinic. Please contact reception to make an appointment.


COPD Clinic

Our Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) Clinic is for patients with lung diseases including chronic bronchitis, emphysema and chronic obstructive airways disease.


INR (Anticoagulation) Clinic

Our anticoagulation clinics monitor and manage people who are taking anticoagulants such as Warfarin to thin their blood. They ensure patients are taking their medication correctly and in the appropriate quantities.


New Patient Registration

This Clinic provides a service for all newly registered patients. A trained Health Care Assistant will provide a health check and discuss your medical history, general health & lifestyle. You will need to bring a urine sample.


Blood Pressure & Heart Check Clinic

This clinic is for the care and monitoring of patients with a raised blood pressure and risk of heart disease.  Patients see the Doctor and/or Practice Nurse every six months.


Diabetic Clinic

This clinic is for the care and monitoring of patients with Diabetes. The clinic is managed by Dr Houlton.


Asthma Clinic

This clinic for monitoring patients with asthma and for ensuring the most effective treatment possible.



Childhood Immunisation Clinic

Our Medical Team provide the national child immunisation vaccination program. Clinics for this run on the 1st & 3rd Thursday of every month.


Parent Craft/Antenatal Classes

Antenatal classes (sometimes called parent-craft classes) can help you to prepare for your baby’s birth and learn to look after and feed your baby. They are held at IlkestonCommunityHospital.  Contact the Midwife for details.





Phlebotomy Clinic

The blood testing procedure is called Phlebotomy and undertaken by our trained Medical Team. The clinic is every morning and by appointment only.



Our Medical Team provide Dressings, Ear syringing etc, by appointment only.


Counselling Services

All referrals to the counsellor are done through the Doctors.
